 Ward 16: Dumbarton West By-Election (15/06/06)
Martyn McIntyre was the Conservative candidate at the 2006 By-Election in Ward 16.
Martyn said, "I am delighted that I managed to double the Conservative vote
from the by-election last March. Dumbarton West is not strong Conservative
territory, but local people have sent a message to the Labour controlled
council that they are unhappy with the dictatorial way they are running local
affairs and that a more conciliatory approach is needed. I congratulate
Iain Robertson on his victory and I hope he can work with local people to
re-build Dumbarton West ward which has been sadly neglected by Labour for
too long."

Ward 16: Dumbarton West By-Election (17/03/05)
John McDonald was the Conservative candidate at the 2005 By-Election in Ward 16.
Local Conservative spokesman, Martyn McIntyre said, "This was always going
to be a difficult by-election for us given the nature of the ward. However,
the people of Dumbarton West were promised a great deal during the by-election
and local residents will now look for delivery. Given Labour's history of
failure and incompetance...the omens are not good. We will continue to work
hard to convince local people that it is important to have Conservative voices
on the council after the next elections in 2007."

Ward 11: Bowling/Milton/Old Kilpatrick By-Election (14/10/04)
John McDonald was the Conservative candidate at the 2004 By-Election in Ward 11.
"It was a great privilidge to have been
the Conservative candidate in this by-election. The result was a slap in
the face to the Labour council, given the fact that the people in Milton
particularly, made their feelings clear over the closure of their village
primary school."
"The Conservatives have done a lot of work in the ward during the by-election
and we will continue to work hard to ensure that we elect Conservative
Councillors
to West Dunbartonshire council at the next elections in 2007."
