Conservatives Select Westminster Candidate

West Dunbartonshire Conservatives have selected their Westminster candidate to take on John McFall at the next General Election. He is Martyn McIntyre (29), from Dumbarton. Martyn was educated at Knoxland Primary School and Dumbarton Academy, before going on to Strathclyde University. He is currently Chairman of the West Dunbartonshire Conservative Association.

Martyn’s previous political experience includes having worked for an MSP for four years and also having been the Conservative Scottish Parliamentary candidate for the Glasgow Govan constituency and the party’s local council candidate in the Dumbarton ward at the recent elections in May. He has also been involved in the campaign to protect services at the Vale of Leven Hospital.

Following his selection, Martyn said, “It’s a great privilege to have been selected for my home seat of West Dunbartonshire.”

“I have been selected for this position at a time when British politics is becoming competitive and interesting again. We have a new Prime Minister whose honeymoon in office has been the shortest in history and a Conservative Party that has outlined fresh, radical and popular new policy ideas that aim to move this country forward. It is of course the sincerest form of flattery that less than a week after our new policies were announced, the Labour Government watered them down and introduced them as their own.”
